We provide seamless clinical education in General Dentistry through the School of Dental Medicine, the Clinical Training Center, and the Graduate School of Dental Medicine. This program aims to cultivate well-rounded dentists with extensive knowledge and skills in dental treatment. In addition to lectures and exercises in General Dentistry, we manage clinical training and conduct exams such as CBT and OSCE.

In our research efforts, we promote the development of advanced medical science, particularly through industry-academia collaboration and translational research, with the goal of training clinical dental researchers. In recent years, we have actively incorporated innovative and game-changing technologies, as well as techniques from other fields, into our research.

Research Themes:

1) Developing new antibacterial and anti-biofilm therapies using nanotechnology and laser engineering for treating infectious diseases like root caries and periodontal disease.

2) Creating and validating biomaterials (scaffolds and bone graft materials) based on ceramics and extracellular matrix for regenerating teeth and bone lost due to dental disease.

3) Conducting integrated basic and clinical research to advance the practical application and dissemination of novel total wrist arthroplasty for patients with rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.

4) Proposing new models of teaching and training in clinical education and developing training systems for young researchers to promote collaborative research with industry.

In the postgraduate clinical training program for dentists, we promote comprehensive resident training in collaboration with the Division of General Dentistry at Hokkaido University Hospital and various dental departments.
