We are doing clinical research and basic research on the Head and neck diagnostic imaging as well as head and neck radiation therapy.
We are striving for efficient exploration and practice of radiological education to undergraduate students and residents.

1.MRI, CT due to head and neck image diagnosis
We analyze neoplastic lesions of the head and neck, metabolic diseases, and the pathogenesis of inflammatory lesions by using MR imaging system and MDCT.

2. Ultrasonography
Ultrasonography is a simple and useful medical diagnostic modality which do not use X-ray. Ultrasound examinations detect blood flow using the Doppler method. By taking advantage of these features, we are trying to improve the diagnostic capability of ultrasonic examinations. We study the ultrasonic diagnosis using an intra-oral probe. And we also study fusion of ultrasound and CT images .

3. Salivary gland scintigraphy
Our department provides diagnostic imaging services for salivary tumor or inflammation using salivary gland scintigraphy. We are evaluating these pathological entities by comparative study with salivary gland scintigraphy and ultrasonography.

4. Radiation therapy of head and neck cancers
We are studying the usefulness of dental technology for the improvement of irradiation accuracy and for the prevention of radiation damage in normal tissue. We are also evaluating salivary gland disorders after radiation treatment in the salivation test.

5. Education of residents and students
We are introducing the active learning system in oral radiology education for residents and undergraduate students.
